WHO WE ARE

Changing the perception of sand.

SANDHELDEN combines natural material with innovative technology. Founded in Germany, we are the world's leading company for the production and post-processing of 3D-printed objects made of sand — the manufacturing partner behind other people's work.

With our Creative Manufactory, we bring this process to customers across a wide range of industries and countries, from architecture and art to consumer goods. A patented 3D printing technology, paired with a specially developed post-processing method, lets us turn almost any idea into a fully customized, finished object.

True to our claim “Changing perceptions”, we're reshaping how sand is seen — not as a loose, temporary material, but as the basis for something long-lasting and robust. We work exclusively with regional German quartz sand, valued for its natural texture and high resistance.

How SANDHELDEN started

HOW IT´S MADE

Binder jetting, simply explained

Our 3D-printed sand objects are made using binder jetting — an additive manufacturing process that bonds sand, layer by layer, with a liquid binder.

1

A recoating blade spreads a thin, even layer of quartz sand. A print head with inkjet nozzles then selectively applies liquid binder, bonding sand particles exactly where needed.

2

The build platform lowers by one layer thickness, and the blade spreads fresh sand on top — the cycle repeats.

3

Layer by layer, the object builds up inside the sand bed — then it's carefully uncovered and cleaned.
